Adding media to your post

You added a featured image in the previous lesson but you may notice (depending on your theme settings this may change) that no image is visible when you actually view your post.  This is quite normal, you now need to add images, etc. into your page wherever you want them to appear.  A prime example of the is the image below … it was inserted as instructed below.

Add Media

  1. Place your cursor where you would like your media to be inserted.
  2. Click on “Add Media” top left of the work area menu bar
  3. This will open a screen titled “Insert Media”  that displays all images you already have loaded on your website.
  4. If you want to use an existing image:
    • Click on the image required.
    • On the right sidebar take note of the Attachment Display Options.  You can set the image alignment, image size and link here for your image.
    • Click on “Insert Into Post” (bottom right)
    • You will be taken back to the post page.
  5. If you want to upload a new image that is not already loaded on your website:
    • Click on “Upload files”(top menu)
    • Click on“Select Files” and browse for the image you want to use.
    • Double click on image and it will be loaded into the image window.
    • On the right sidebar take note of the Attachment Display Options.  You can set the image alignment, image size and link here for your image.
    • Click on “Insert Into Post” (bottom right) – you will be taken back to the post page.

You can repeat this process anywhere you want to add images and you can add as many as you want to your post.

You can also use this same process to add audio files, video files, etc. to your post.
